Now that spring is finally here, we can get out of the house! Your little one isn’t old enough for big adventures, but there’s still plenty of the world to enjoy. Here’s a big of list of spring time outdoor activities for you and your kids.
- Nature walk – Your little guy or gal is probably too small for a hike, but they can manage a short walk through some local forest trails.
- The beach – Everyone loves the beach! Find a gentle spot with plenty of sand for play time.
- Fly a kite – You can pick up a cheap kite with their favorite character (Elsa, Belle, etc.).
- Bike ride – Kids love those baby seats on the back!
- Garden – Start a family garden. Give them their own little spot for flowers.
- Explore barefoot – They’ll love the sensations!
- Plant a family tree – You’ll be able to watch it grow for years.
- Launch a rocket – There are several types and prices, but kids love watching them shoot up.
- Homemade Popsicle – All you need is fruit and yogurt for a special treat.
- Cultural festivals – You’ll probably find several within driving distance and they all fun sights and sounds.
- Stargaze – Lay in your backyard and gaze at the night sky. Try to locate constellations.
- Play ball – You don’t need a specific game, just a ball and energy!
- Outside art – You can be a lot more creative when you aren’t worried about making a mess.
- Hopscotch – This jumping game only requires some sidewalk chalk.
- Swings – Every baby loves a swing set. Find one with a baby seat or sit with your child.
- Tour a fire station – Kids love the big trucks, fancy gear and the fire dog!
- Ride in a boat – Any size will do.
- Watch butterflies – You may have to visit a zoo, but a butterfly room is an incredible sight.
- Pick flowers – It’s fun and your home will smell great.
- Take a nap outside – A hammock would be nice, but you really just need a blanket.
- Eat outside – Take you usual meal in the fresh air.
- Hot air balloons – Find a local show or club and watch them take off. Your little one will love the sight!
- Play tag – This is the quintessential kids’ game: few rules, just running and laughing.
- Roam a park – Your town surely has a park for kids’ activities. Let them lose to explore.
- Pick fresh fruit – Make sure it’s safe first, then eat it right off the vine or tree!
- Draw with chalk – Draw anywhere you like, it washes off easy.
- Feed the birds – Find some ducks or pigeons and serve stale bread.
- Dance in the rain – There’s bound to be some rain at some point. Explore a rainy day and let your little one experience the sensations.
- Visit a zoo – Animals are most active in the spring because it’s no too hot or cold.
- Wear open-toed shoes – Introduce your child to the freedom!
- Listen to the birds – They’re most active in the morning.
- Drive with the windows down – The AC is nice, but that breeze is a lot of fun!
- Walk your neighborhood – When we drive by, we miss so much!
- Visit a museum – Even though this is an indoor activity, they often have outdoor exhibits.
- Go on a picnic – All you need is a change of scenery to have a great time.
- S’mores and hot dogs – Make them around a real campfire (don’t forget to stay safe).
- Play in the sprinklers – Sometimes this is more fun than the pool.
- Watch the sunrise or sunset – There are few sights more beautiful that you could give your child.
